How to Help Those Affected by Wildfires

The devastating fires in Butte, Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, and recent flare-ups in the Santa Cruz Mountains are a reminder that disaster that could happen at any moment in Santa Cruz County. We remember well the impact fires, floods and the devastating Loma Prieta earthquake have had on our community. Borne in the aftermath of the 1982 floods, our Community Foundation has disaster recovery in its DNA.

We know that in times like these, communities from all over band together to provide needed support for those families and lives that have been forever affected.

Please join us in standing in solidarity with the communities of Butte, Los Angeles, and Ventura Counties. Our sister community foundations serving these areas have opened several relief funds to support the ongoing needs and recovery efforts there.

Should you or those in your networks wish to provide support, we encourage you to consider making a contribution to all or one of the funds listed below.

We will be sharing more about our own efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience, including pre-approved grants from our Disaster Fund to frontline nonprofits. As always, please know that Community Foundation staff are available to you as a resource. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have.
