Three Local Community Foundations Start MeetUps for Social Sector Communications
The community foundations of Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey counties have teamed up to launch ComNetwork Monterey Bay, a peer learning and networking group for social sector communications practitioners in the three counties.
ComNetwork Monterey Bay is supported by The Communications Network. Founded nearly 30 years ago, the Network is the premier leadership organization for nonprofit communications professionals, with nearly 1,000 active members from across the globe.
ComNetwork Locals, operating in Denver, Miami, Seattle, San Francisco and others launched or forming across the country (like ComNet Monterey Bay), are Network member-led groups for people working in the social sector to meet their colleagues, exchange ideas, get new skills and learn about emerging trends in communications.
ComNetwork Monterey Bay is free and open to all those in the social sector using communications to promote their cause. Membership in the Network is not required to participate in the local group.
Two kick-off MeetUps are scheduled, one in Santa Cruz County March 8, and one in Monterey County March 15, with offline recruiting efforts underway in San Benito County.
It is planned that 3-5 additional ComNetwork Monterey Bay MeetUps will be scheduled in 2017, between the three counties, after getting feedback from those attending the kick-off events.
