The agency is charged with assessing conditions in local groundwater basins and developing a groundwater sustainability plan to guide management activities. The agency consists of an 11-member committee comprised of two elected officials from Central Water District, City of Santa Cruz, County of Santa Cruz, and Soquel Creek Water District and three private well representatives. The agency is staffed through a cooperative arrangement with staff from the member agencies and administrative support from the Foundation. An executive team comprised of the director or general manager of each member agency and the Foundation’s program director is tasked with overseeing the completion of the sustainability plan, including providing direction to the senior planner.

The senior planner will play a key role in the development of the sustainability plan that outlines a course to achieve groundwater sustainability in the mid-county basin within 20 years. With direction from the agency’s executive team, the senior planner will have the principal role in the development of the sustainability plan.
