Santa Cruz County Love

That's a wrap on our first-ever Community Photo Contest! We want to thank all of you who shared your love for Santa Cruz County through your photography.

We got a great response and received almost 200 entries. The range of photos truly represents the best of our region and the people who call it home.

Congratulations to the winners, finalists, and all the entrants that made this possible. Through this contest, we helped connect the community with local nonprofits working to make Santa Cruz County a place for all to thrive.

Community Celebrations & People

1st Place

"Estrellas at Watsonville Dia de Muertos” By Carlos Campos. Carlos directed his prize grant to Estrellas de Esperanza.

2nd Place

“Determined to Finish the 2025 Wharf to Wharf” by Virginia Sajan. Virginia directed her prize grant to Birchbark Foundation.

3rd Place

“We love Santa Cruz” by James Rosen. James directed his prize grant to Community Bridges.

Landscape & Wildlife

Our region is teeming with natural beauty. From he coast to the mountains, to the majestic wildlife, and all the striking architecture and art around our county. These photographs captured the wonder of this amazing place we call home.

1st Place

"Brown Pelican " by Tony Britton. Tony directed his prize to the Bay of Life Fund at the Community Foundation.

2nd Place

"Morning Veil" by Mickey Singer. Mickey directed his prize grant to Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation.

3rd Place

"Just One More" by David Poznic. David directed his prize grant to Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks.

Nonprofit Mission in Action

Local nonprofits help support our community not only by providing essential services, but also opportunities for enrichment and joy. These photographs capture the spirit of their mission.

1st Place

"Family Arts Night at Live Oak Elementary" by Sarah Brothers Bot. Sarah directed her prize grant to Arts Council Santa Cruz County.

2nd Place

"Joy In Motion" by Harley Hudson. Harley directed her prize grant to Black Surf Santa Cruz.

3rd Place

"Young Outdoor Leaders Tree Planting at County Park” by Carlos Campos. Carlos directed his prize grant to County Park Friends.

Youth Category

These aspiring young photographers have captured their experiences out in our county, celebrating the things we as a community grow to love.

1st Place

"Ukelele Lady and Vespa" by Leilana Argentieri. Leilana directed her prize grant to Tara Redwood School.

2nd Place

"Bike Life at sunset" by Jacob Tapiz. Jacob directed his prize grant to CASA of Santa Cruz County.

3rd Place

"Lighthouse Baby Boats" by Leilana Argentieri. Leilana directed her prize grant to Tara Redwood School.
