Ana Espinoza

Program Officer

As Program Officer, Ana brings more than 30 years’ experience managing and developing nonprofits and community service agencies. She works to advance the impact of the Foundation’s grantmaking portfolio and leads the Diversity Partnership initiative, supporting the LGBTQ+ community. She is proud to be part of a team and community working to advance opportunities and quality of life in Santa Cruz County, now and in the future.

Ana’s career started with Meals on Wheels and senior dining programs. Later, she served as Executive Director of Familia Center. For nearly two decades, she worked for the City of Watsonville. In the City Manager’s office, she led special projects in education, social service grants, legislation, shelter services, and job training for youth and adults. Most recently, she was the director of the Parks and Community Services department responsible for park development, recreation, and neighborhood services.

Ana immigrated from Mexico to the East Bay at a young age. In middle school, she became fascinated with the diversity of cultures, customs, and human behavior. Her personal experiences in a new culture, supportive teachers, and perhaps watching 70’s TV (Dragnet, All In The Family, The Jefferson’s, and Spanish language telenovelas like “La Gata”) led her to study psychology. Ana deeply believes that continual learning, combined with new and strengthened relationships with those around us, will achieve greater outcomes for Santa Cruz County.

Ana makes time for volunteering, regularly goes to the movie theater to enjoy captivating films and the buttered popcorn. She loves the outdoors and keeps a strong fitness routine to help burn off all the movie popcorn, good food, and wine she enjoys.
