On October 14, 2006, seventy-five individuals from local nonprofit organizations, public agencies, businesses, schools, faith-based groups and the community attended an all-day event at the Horticulture Center at Cabrillo College.

The gathering was sponsored by the Foundation's Diversity Partnership, with support from The California Endowment.

The day was designed to foster a shared vision and  develop action items to strengthen the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community in Santa Cruz County.

Participants created a history wall that chronicled significant events in the LGBT community, both locally and around the globe, a wall with highlights from media coverage, a map and guide to LGBT resources throughout the county, and a compilation of data from local surveys of the LGBT community.

A follow-up meeting was held in November. Planning has continued on collaborative projects that can be achieved over the next five years to advance a number of shared goals. Click on the links on the right sidebar to learn more about planning activities and goals.
