The Simunovich Family Agricultural Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 by Jasper Simunovich to support students serious about studying agriculture at a four-year university. He created the fund to honor his parents, Jasper and Lucy Hrepich Simunovich, who were apple growers in the Pajaro Valley at the turn of the last century. The younger Jasper died in 2001 and his gift to the Foundation created this endowed scholarship fund.
In 2008, one student will be awarded $1,250 (renewable for up to three years) for undergraduate study in the field of agriculture.
Jay Smith (no photo available), a graduate of Pacific Coast Charter School, will attend California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
