The R.H. Beel Scholarship

Background

Ralph H. "Boots" Beel (1906 - 1984) had been unable to finish high school due to financial hardships. After a successful business career, he took up flying and purchased an aviator's outfit. After only one week of wearing his pair of expensive boots they were stolen. From then on, his friends called him "Boots." After his death, his family created this memorial scholarship for students graduating from Santa Cruz High School.



Scholarship Opportunity

In 2008, one scholarship in the amount of $750 will be awarded and is renewable for up to three years. Priority will be given to students who do not receive other scholarships.

Alayna Manor will be attending Indiana University, Bloomington and majoring in Public Health and Spanish.



Eligibility

• Applicant is a graduating senior from Santa Cruz High School;
• Demonstrates academic achievement;
• Participates in socially responsible activities;
• Demonstrates financial need; and
• Is a U.S. citizen.    



Application Process and Deadlines

The Foundation is no longer accepting scholarship applications for 2008. The Foundation will announce the 2009 scholarship opportunities by January 2009.


The Foundation's scholarships are administered by Scholarship Management Services, a department of Scholarship America.  Scholarship America is a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization that seeks to expand educational opportunities and encourage educational achievement.  Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, age, gender, disability, or national origin.
