About Us


Founded in 1982, the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County is an independent public charity.

Our mission is to promote philanthropy to make Santa Cruz County a better place to live, now and in the future. 

We are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3).

We have an indepedent governing board broadly representative of the community we serve.

The Foundation:

  • Assists professional advisors to explore giving options to benefit their clients;
  • Helps donors in their charitable giving;
  • Provides grants and resources to community organizations; and
  • Works with government, private foundations, and local leaders to address current and emerging needs.

The Foundation is located in Soquel, in Santa Cruz County, on California’s central coast, 70 miles south of San Francisco. 


The Foundation has fulfulled the requirements of the Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program by committing to comply with all applicable environmental regulations, conserve natural resources, practice pollution
prevention, and be environmentally responsible.
