Charitable Gift Annuity

“Working with the Foundation has been a win–win situation. It was the right thing to do
for both my client and the community.”

— Professional Advisor: Sidney Chapman, California Certified Fiduciary, Registered Guardian

For 32 years, Sidney has handled the financial and legal affairs of people who could no longer manage on their own.

First, as a public guardian in two counties and since 1989, as a professional fiduciary at Lifespan, a  care management service
for older adults.

When Sidney began to organize the financial affairs of one of her clients, a 96 year old woman, she discovered nearly $1 million in assets,
including a $100,000 check mixed among the unopened mail.

That's when Sidney turned to us.

We're one of the few local organizations in the county licensed by the State of California to offer charitable gift annuities.

Sidney set up an annuity at the Foundation for her client, guaranteeing payments for life at a fixed rate and also providing significant tax benefits.

With no living heirs, Sidney’s client wanted to help children after she passed away.

The Shoebox for Kids, an endowed fund to benefit children, was established at the Foundation and named as the beneficiary of the annuity.
