2007 Competitive Grants Awards

The Foundation awarded $436,,500 in grants to 45 local nonprofit organizations through the 2007 competitive grants process. The awards were approved at the Foundation’s Board meeting on July 11, 2007.

Kuumbwa Jazz Center

$15,000

a two-year grant to support jazz education programming for young performers and to launch new outreach efforts for school-aged youth in Live Oak and the Pajaro Valley (partially supported by donor advised funds)
Mariposa's Art

$6,000

to partially support the expansion of after-school arts and leadership development programs in the Live Oak School District (partially supported by donor advised funds)
Museum of Art &History at the McPherson Center

$18,000 

a two-year grant to support a project to archive, preserve and make available to researchers and the public the museum's history and art collection
New Music Works

to continue social marketing and health education programs for teens in Santa Cruz County
Survivors Healing Center

to partially support group therapy sessions for adults and teens in Santa Cruz and Watsonville for survivors of child sexual abuse, additonal outreach to the Latino community; and for professional development for the executive director (partially supported by donor advised funds)
WomenCARE

to expand outreach and support services to Latinas newly diagnosed with cancer through the Entre Nosotras program (partially supported by donor advised funds)

to partially support LyLyA, a program that works to increase acceptance of LGBT people in the Latino community and to reduce racism within the LGBT community (partially supported by donor advised funds)

to partially support expansion of the gleaning program in Santa Cruz County that works to educate families and children about agricultural practices on the Central Coast and to increase fresh produce available to local food banks
American Red Cross Santa Cruz County

to continue support for transporation services for low income seniors, disabled people and other county residents in need to out-of-county medical appointments
The Diversity Center

$10,000

to increase organizational capacity in providing programs and services to the LGBT community
Homeless Services Center                         

$12,000 

to support the Rebele Family Shelter program and to enhance the financial health of the organization
Human Care Alliance

$5,000

to strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of a network of over sixty health and human services organizations
United Way of Santa Cruz County                

$10,000

for the Homeless Action Partnership to refine and implement a plan that addresses homelessness in the county
