Grants to nonprofits are one of the ways we help people in Santa Cruz County and beyond.

Grants from the Community Foundation come from two general sources. The majority of our annual grants come from funds established by individuals, families and businesses. The other, smaller amount, comes from our grantmaking funds awarded at the discretion of our board.

In 2018, thanks to the generosity of our donors, we awarded a record $11.6 million in grants. Of this total, $1.5 million was made through a competitive open application process for our Community Grants, as well as grants from the Diversity Partnership and the Rydell Visual Arts Fund and Scholarships.
