The 501(c)(3) Book Club: Silos, Politics and Turf Wars

For busy people who want to discuss with their peers how to apply some of the best ideas about nonprofit leadership and governance found in books, blogs, periodicals, videos and articles.

The story is about Jude Cousins as he struggles to solve one of the most universal and frustrating problems faced by people within an organization.
Silos, Politics and Turf  Wars tackles the costly and maddening issues of silos, the barriers that create organizational politics keeping our thinking, planning and work separate from each other.

Silos devastate organizations, kill productivity, push good people out the door and jeopardize the achievement of organizational goals. As with author Patrick Lencioni's other books, this is a fictional—but eerily real—story.

Along with the book's character, you'll learn a simple approach for helping your team transform confusion and infighting into clarity and alignment.

Susan Farrar and Meredeth Clark will facilitate this book group discussion.

Farrar is the Foundation's director of finance and operation. As part of the management team, she is using the book, along with training from the Table Group in planning the Foundation's strategic direction. Clark is the chief executive officer of the California Association of Nonprofits and CAN Insurance Services. Together, they will invite you to share insights into what this book offers leaders of nonprofits.
