Supporting Corporate Philanthropy
West Marine is giving back and we're helping!
West Marine is one of the world's largest marine retailers. With headquarters in Watsonville, they help us appreciate and enjoy life on the water while promoting healthy marine habitats and sustainable fisheries.
They follow through on this corporate commitment by giving back through their BlueFuture Fund.
The donor-advised fund, established here in 2015, supports marine conservation, sustainable fisheries and youth boating, in all the places they do business.
From a news release at time of the fund's creation, West Marine CEO Matt Hyde said, “We’re excited about setting up a sustainable way to share our commitment to youth boating, marine conservation and sustainable fisheries."
"Part of West Marine’s mission," Hyde said, "is that we work to conserve marine resources, reduce our impact on the environment and promote boating. The creation of the BlueFuture Fund aligns with that mission.”
Both Hyde and West Marine founder Randy Repass made lead gifts to the fund, along with others on West Marine's board of directors and senior team.
We Can Help You, Too!
Helping West Marine set up their fund and manage the back office, like we have for other local businesses like Driscoll's, is just one of our roles as your local community foundation.
